Adult ADHD Assessment Procedure

What To Expect

Upon booking your private ADHD assessment, you will be sent a form that you need to fill out and send back to us.

You will have the freedom to choose whether to have a private and personal assessment with our experts at one of our centres in London, Manchester or Birmingham or to do it online via Skype. Your assessment will involve meeting with an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist who specialises in adult ADHD.

We customarily ask for a collateral history from you. Collateral history is someone who has been with you for a long time to be familiar with your everyday routines and responses. This helps our specialist get a grasp of how ADHD has been affecting your everyday life.

Your ADHD Assessment

The assessments usually take 60-90 minutes to complete. There will be a detailed of assessment of your prevailing symptoms (how have these been affecting the aspects of your life), your medical history or past and present prescriptions as well as possibilities of comorbid existence and development of other disorders. You will also be enquired of your family background and developmental history.

You will then be talked through a structured clinical assessment for Adult ADHD which is based on the latest DSM-V criteria for Adult ADHD known as the gold standard of assessment criteria for diagnosing the different subtypes of ADHD. Our ADHD specialists will be keen on making your assessment in order for us to capably recommend treatment that will work best for you.

At the end of the assessment the doctor will either make a firm diagnosis or working diagnosis and then you can come up with an individualised treatment plan together.  It is of utmost importance that you have an understanding of what roles ADHD plays in your life as an adult and how has it influenced the different aspects of your everyday life.

We understand that our clients who are already under treatment or are with longstanding undiagnosed ADHD do not want to lose any minute to start changing their lives and conquer ADHD. So as indicated, treatment will be initiated at the end of the assessment.

The cost for an initial assessment is £495 for adults. If required, the cost for follow up consultations with your Consultant Psychiatrist is £200.
