Adult ADHD Assessment

Upon booking your private ADHD assessment, you will be sent a form that you need to fill out and send back to us. You will have the freedom to choose whether to have a private and personal assessment with our experts at one of our centres in London, Manchester or Birmingham or to do it online via Skype. Your assessment will involve meeting with an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist who specialises in adult ADHD. We customarily ask for a collateral history from you. Collateral history is someone who has been with you for a long time to be familiar with your everyday routines and responses. This helps our specialist get a grasp of how ADHD has been affecting your everyday life.

The assessments usually take 60-90 minutes to complete. You will be walked through a structured clinical assessment for Adult ADHD which is based on the latest DSM-V criteria for Adult ADHD known as the gold standard of assessment criteria for diagnosing the different subtypes of ADHD. Our ADHD specialists will be keen on making your assessment in order for us to capably recommend treatment that will work best for you.

At the end of the assessment the doctor will either make a firm diagnosis or working diagnosis and then you can come up with an individualised treatment plan together. It is of utmost importance that you have an understanding of what roles ADHD plays in your life as an adult and how has it influenced the different aspects of your everyday life.

The cost for an initial assessment is £445 for adults. If required, the cost for follow up consultations with your Consultant Psychiatrist is £195. Depending on the length and the frequency of the sessions, costs will range from £180 to £320 per month. Our ADHD packages contain various available plans that will befit your different ADHD needs. We offer a free introductory coaching session with one of our specialist ADHD coaches and we will arrange this after your meeting with your ADHD doctor.

Adult Assessments

We normally ask if it is possible for you to get some collateral history, preferably from someone who has known you since childhood. This helps the doctor to get a better objective understanding of how your ADHD symptoms may have affected you throughout your life.

The sooner you get diagnosed and start on a treatment plan for Adult ADHD the better it will be in terms of making positive life changes. However, it is important to remember that is never too late to get help for Adult ADHD. We have had many clients come to The ADHD Centre in their retirement seeking help and have worked successfully with them to help them get on top of their symptoms so that they are leading a fuller and richer life.

Psychology and Psychiatry

Studies show that adults with ADHD have an increased risk of also suffering from other psychological problems: particularly depression, anxiety and substance abuse. This is often because their ADHD went undiagnosed and untreated in childhood and they may be using substances to self-medicate.
