Your Child’s ADHD Assessment

What To Expect?

When booking for a child assessment, we will send you a registration form to fill out and send back to us.

We normally ask if it is possible for you to get some collateral history, preferably from someone who has known you since childhood. This helps the doctor to get a better objective understanding of how your child’s ADHD symptoms may have affected their daily life.

The assessment will involve meeting with an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist doctor who specialises in child ADHD.

The child assessment can either be face to face at one of our centres in Central London or Central Manchester or via Skype, depending on your child’s preference.

Assessments usually take around 60-90 minutes to complete.

The doctor will take a detailed assessment of the presenting symptoms in the child (and how these have developed over time), medical history, developmental history, and family history.

Then the doctor will go through a structured clinical assessment for Child ADHD with you, which is based on the latest DSM-V criteria for Child ADHD. These are the gold standard of assessment criteria for diagnosing the different subtypes of ADHD in children and adults as well.

At the end of the assessment the doctor will either make a firm diagnosis or working diagnosis and then you can come up with an individualised treatment plan for your child.

Many parents experience different emotions when the diagnosis of child ADHD is made. They may feel a sense of relief and hope in the knowledge that there are effective treatments available for their child’s case. Some people may also experience a sense of frustration that their child was not diagnosed earlier.

We understand that most parents of children with longstanding undiagnosed ADHD do not want to waste any more time and are very keen to start making positive changes in their child’s life right away. Therefore, if indicated, child ADHD treatment will be usually be initiated at the end of the assessment.

Costs

The cost for an initial assessment is £395 for adults and £795 for children.

If required, the cost for follow-up consultations with your Consultant Psychiatrist is £195 or £190 via Skype.

As part of the assessment, we also offer a free introductory coaching session with one of our child ADHD specialist coaches. We will get in touch to arrange this after you meet with the doctor.

The cost of our ADHD coaching packages depend on the length and frequency of the sessions and we have a number of different plans to best suit your child’s specific needs. Prices vary from between £180-320/month.

Please contact us for more information about our different coaching plans, so that we can come up with a plan that suits your child’s specific needs.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that clients may sometimes need to amend or change appointments. This is why we have introduced the following cancellation policy, which we believe to be transparent and fair.

Clients can cancel or reschedule their appointment at no extra cost, provided that they notify us at least 48 hours in advance.

Appointments cancelled or rescheduled with less than 48 hours notice will be charged the full fee.

Important Note for Patients

Please be informed that we do not hold an out of hours emergency service and if you are unable to contact us, parents and guardians are strongly advised to contact their child’s GP or go to their local A&E department to access emergency psychiatric services.
