Here at The ADHD Centre, we understand it is very difficult to diagnose the presence of ADHD in children younger than 5 since many preschool children display some of the symptoms seen in ADHD in different situations. In addition, children change rapidly during the preschool years.
At some cases, behavior that looks like ADHD might be caused by:
- A sudden life change (a death in the family, a divorce, or moving)
- Bipolar disorder
- Undetected seizures
- Medical disorders affecting brain function
ADHD Treatment for Children
Our ADHD treatment plans may include one or more of the following approaches depending on your child’s needs.
- drug treatment
- psychological intervention
- special education programs
Learn as much as you can about the options and talk them over with your child’s healthcare provider so you can make the best plan for your child.
Studies prove long-term treatment combined with ADHD medications and behavioral therapy has better results than just pure medication treatment, or no treatments in managing hyperactivity, inattention, impulsivity, and symptoms of depression and anxiety. Moreover, kids treated with a combination of ADHD medications and therapy also have better social skills.
