ADHD Coach, Entrepreneur

Sophie Hailwood, specialist clinician at The ADHD Centre

Sophie puts the client firmly at the centre of their coaching process and tailors her approach based on their needs, goals and preferences. Sophie works collaboratively with her clients to identify their strengths and their saboteurs, explore how these relate to ADHD, and trial ADHD friendly strategies for making lasting change.

About Sophie Hailwood

Sophie was diagnosed with ADHD in her mid-thirties and following her own ‘life changing’ experience of ADHD coaching, she retrained and set up her ADHD Coaching business. Previously Sophie was a Director of Operations and Inclusion at a large mental health charity. Sophie brings a wealth of knowledge around diversity and inclusion to coaching and works with an awareness of how life experiences and intersecting identities impact our experience and management of ADHD.

Sophie coaches many ‘late diagnosed’ adults to take control of their lives after diagnosis and reach their potential by working effectively with their brains. Sophie is passionate about the role of dopamine seeking in ADHD related challenges, and how coaching around dopamine seeking impacts the success and wellbeing of her clients.

Sophie brings her experience of senior leadership to coaching and offers opportunities for current or aspiring leaders with ADHD to explore their development in coaching.

Sophie coaches all ADHD-related issues as identified by her clients, with significant experience with:

  • Focus
  • Motivation
  • Task initiation and completion
  • Managing distraction
  • Dopamine seeking
  • Habit formation
  • Addiction
  • Establishing routines
  • Coping with workplace conflict
  • Leadership
  • Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD)
  • Demand avoidance
  • Debt and money management
  • Hormones and their impact on ADHD
  • Self esteem and the chronic inner critic

All of my clients are unique, with a unique experience of ADHD. What we have in common when we come to coaching is a set of ‘problems’ which can almost always be attributed to unmanaged and misunderstood ADHD, exacerbated by previous attempts to solve these problems in ways that don’t work with our brains. This is extremely frustrating and contributes to a cycle of blame, shame and relentless ‘trying harder.’ This approach is demoralising and fails to explore and celebrate the remarkable nature of how our brains work, cheating us of the success and wellbeing that is entirely possible. ADHD Coaching can change all of this.
