A child with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) will commonly have difficulties socialising with other kids. So as parents, what we should do is help them overcome this hurdle and start making friends. That's why inviting your child's friends over for a playdate is an excellent initiative for establishing friendships. However, this treatment activity proves to be more problematic once your child's ADHD gets in the way.

Making friends — it can either be a cakewalk, or complete torture. For children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, it has always been the latter. An ADHD-diagnosed child is continually in doubt with everything they do, so establishing lasting friendships is going to be an issue for them. As a parent, how can we help our young ones create lasting friendships with others without having to tremble in fear of rejection?

As an adult with ADHD, you might already be feeling like you have so much on your plate. Everything is hard to organize; you feel so restless, feel the need to be on time and remember all the things you need to do for the rest of the day. Mind the pressure of the society that demands and has set standards that will qualify you as a good parent...and then add an ADHD child to the equation. Parenting a child with ADHD is definitely not for the faint-hearted, and it becomes more dreadful when you have ADHD yourself.
