Dr Anya Ciobanca originally qualified as a medical doctor in 2004. She trained in public health before pursuing a career as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. Her Core Psychiatry Training and Specialist Training in Child & Adolescent Mental Health were completed in Cambridge. Dr Ciobanca has worked in various NHS settings with children and adults, including people with learning disabilities as well as eating disorders.
Dr Ciobanca is using a personalised and holistic approach in the assessment and treatment of young people presenting with a range of psychiatric disorders. She has particular expertise in the management of neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism and Tic Disorder, and comorbid conditions such as depression, anxiety, phobias, PTSD and OCD. Dr Ciobanca has a compassionate approach in engaging with young people and their families in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of difficulties and establish a way forward.
Alongside her training as a psychiatrist, she has undertaken an in-depth training as a Cognitive Analytical Therapist at St Thomas’ Hospital and developed a specialist expertise in combining psychological and pharmacological interventions. In addition, she is a visiting consultant psychiatrist at University of Cambridge providing complex communication training for medical students.
Dr Ciobanca can offer consultations in both English and Romanian.

Positive online experience
I was initially unsure about arranging an ADHD assessment online, but the experience went really well. Even though it was an online session, it didn’t feel that way,it felt very personal and sensitive to my daughter’s needs. Dr Ciobanca checked in regularly to make sure she was coping with the questions and the process, which meant she felt supported throughout the whole assessment.
