Dr. Val Yeung is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, who has been a NHS doctor since 1997. She has a broad clinical background from initially qualifying in General Practice, undergoing additional training in Paediatrics, before specialising in Psychiatry, and then becoming a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. She has expertise in the assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders including ADHD, and co-occuring mental health difficulties.
Awards & Recognition
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Yeung has worked in a variety of clinics and lead roles in different organisations, in the UK as well as in New Zealand. These have included as a Specialist Advisor for the Care Quality Commission, Clinical Director for Countywide Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, and Associate Medical Director for Community Mental Health services across the age span in an award winning NHS Trust, rated outstanding by the CQC. Her NHS practice is in a specialist ADHD clinic in a children and young people’s service in the North of England.
Dr Yeung is passionate about providing high quality, evidence based practice which respectfully and holistically considers behavioural, psychological, educational and family interventions, as well as physical healthcare, alongside psychiatric medication as appropriate. She tailors this care to each child, young person or adult she jointly works with to help them achieve their potential, and enable better health, performance and functioning.

Dr Yeung who diagnosed my son and has continued to supervise his care and medication has been brilliant. The diagnosis was done online, but the process was exceedingly thorough, with detailed reports gathered from his school and from us, and extensive time spent talking to us and my son and assessing my son. Dr Yeung put my son at ease from the outset and he has always appreciated the way his concerns and questions have been taken seriously. The process for trialling and optimising an appropriate medication regime has been extremely thorough, with monthly reviews during the titration process and a requirement for observations ( height, weight, BP and pulse) to be submitted before any changes to medication are made. Diagnosis and the correct medication has been so helpful for my son and our whole family. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Yeung

My teenage daughter was seen at The ADHD centre by Dr Yeung and diagnosed with ADHD August 2021. I whole heartedly recommend Dr Yeung who we continue to see. My daughters diagnosis and the treatment protocols put in place have changed all our lives significantly. Her mental health, understanding of herself and academic achievements have been truly remarkable since diagnosis and most significantly family harmony has been largely achieved. Our consultations have all been on-line and I was a little sceptical of this at first particularly for the initial consultation which was quite long. However this was not a barrier and in some ways I feel my daughter was more comfortable with this.
I have found Dr Yeung to be very personable and thorough in all of our consultations from case taking to listening to our concerns and offering resolutions which have worked. Without hesitation I recommend Dr Yeung and the ADHD Centre I only wish I had discovered them earlier.
